Bomb squad removes possible explosive

The object was found at 9:13 a.m. on the street near the corner of Dumbarton and Blenheim avenues.

It appeared to be some type of bottle that seemed to be expanding, Lunny said. It did not explode and was removed from the area shortly before 11 a.m.

The discovery prompted authorities to close streets in the area, and the California Highway Patrol assisted in traffic control until the object was removed, CHP Officer Peter Van Eckhardt said.

The sheriff's office is investigating the incident, Lunny said.
