New traffic light installed near site of accident

There is a new stoplight in San Francisco's Chinatown -- one that residents have been demanding since a fatal accident nearly four years ago.

Joyce Lam, 76, was hit and killed in 2006 at the intersection of Mason and Filbert streets.

A traffic light was installed there and turned on Monday.

One of the victim's sons says it is about time.

"We've lived in this neighborhood since the 60s and as kids we crossed this street thousands and thousands of times and we were always very careful because cars would zoom up and down and we'd seen lots of close calls so this is very important to me," David Lam said.
