Man stabs 2 attackers during fight in Richmond

RICHMOND, CA

Police received a call shortly after 5 p.m. reporting a group of males beating an older man near Nystrom Elementary School.

The fight had already broken up by the time police arrived, French said, but officers were told that the victim had been attacked by four men and had pulled out a knife to defend himself.

French said the victim knew the suspects and may have been attacked because of a dispute over money.

A short time later, police were told that the suspects had showed up at Kaiser Permanente's Richmond Medical Center and that two people, a 22-year-old man and a 25-year-old man, were being treated for stab wounds.

The men were transferred to a different hospital, where one was listed in stable condition and the other was listed in critical condition, French said.

The alleged beating victim was injured but was not taken to the hospital.

As of this morning no arrests had been made in connection with the incident, French said.
