A dog that was abandoned and locked in a bathroom for weeks has a new place to call home.

On Saturday, Terry and Sandy O'Connor of Pleasanton adopted Leonardo, a 108-pound mastiff.

Leonardo was locked in a Central Valley home for several weeks last month with only a kitten and chihuahua for company.

After his story made the news, dozens of people waited in line at Tony La Russa's Animal Rescue Foundation in Walnut Creek to adopt Leonardo.

In fact, ARF says pet adoptions nearly doubled this past weekend.
