As a family was getting ready to leave a home in the middle of Seventh Street near Downtown San Jose, a massive 60-foot tree, weighing about 3,000 pounds fell on their GMC truck.

Around 9:20 p.m. the tree flattened the cab of the truck trapping a man, woman, and 2 1/2-year-old boy in the vehicle. Firefighters managed to get the young boy out around an hour later, but he later died at a local hospital.

Around 11 p.m. the woman was finally taken out of the driver's side and is in an unknown condition. The man was also taken out of the car and is expected to survive.

Investigators think the tree fell due to the wet weather.
