Injured sea lion recovering after capture

Veterinarians say it is still too early to know if an entangled sea lion rescued after avoiding capture for a month will survive.

It was captured Sunday at Moss Landing Harbor in Monterey Bay with fishing line tangled around its neck and mouth.

Vets from the Marine Mammal Center in Sausalito were able to tranquilize the animal and take off the net. They are now giving it antibiotics to fight off infection.

The goal is to get the sea lion to rest, re-hydrate and gain back the 100 pounds it lost while it could not eat.
