Some commuters got protection against the H1N1 flu on their way home from work on Tuesday.

During the day's afternoon rush, BART riders were offered the H1N1 vaccine for free at the 12th Street Station in Oakland.

About 1,200 doses were being given out until 6 p.m.

The partnership between BART and the Alameda County Health Department is believed to be the first of its kind in the nation.
