The woman was crossing the street at Ocean and Miramar avenues when she was hit at about 1:40 p.m., San Francisco fire Lt. Mindy Talmadge said.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the SFPUC vehicle called 911 and "was very distraught," Talmadge said.
She said the incident remains under investigation.
