The real life of a 49er cheerleader

The San Francisco 49ers are hosting open auditions for the opportunity to join the 49ers 2010 Gold Rush Squad. The Gold Rush, presented by Coors Light, are one of the NFL's premiere performance groups. Preliminary auditions will be held on Sunday, March 28 at Maples Pavilion at Stanford University. Registration begins at 10:00 a.m. and auditions will start promptly at 11:00 a.m.

Applicants will be required to learn a short dance combination taught by a professional choreographer and perform that routine in a group in front of a panel of judges. They will be judged on dance ability, crowd appeal, showmanship and individual applications. At the end of the preliminary audition, a group of finalists will be selected.

Finalists selected on March 28 must be available for a finals prep class, interview and final dance audition during the week of March 29th - April 2nd.

Those interested in auditioning should visit to download an application. All applications and application fees must be received, along with a 5x7 photo, by March 24, 2010.

To prepare for these auditions, the Gold Rush Director will host workshops throughout March which will include a dance clinic, audition tips and an information packet. For detailed information about the workshops, visit or call (650) 336-1049.
