The bomb squad was called in on Monday night to detonate a suspicious device found on the campus of a south bay school.
Police in Sunnyvale responded to Braly Elementary after getting a 911 call.
The suspicious device was not a bomb, but instead powerful fireworks.
One officer at the scene described it as an "M-80 on steroids."
Nearby residents were notified, but not evacuated.
No one was hurt. Classes will be held as normal tomorrow.
