Jose Rosalio Avila is being held in Sonoma County jail on $400,000 bail and faces four counts of committing a lewd act on a child, Sgt. Steve Fraga said.
Police were notified May 10 of a possible child molestation case in the 1700 block of Petaluma Hill Road in Santa Rosa, Fraga said. Police were contacted after the victim's older sister told officials at her school, Fraga said.
Investigators determined the lewd acts, which allegedly occurred over the past month, involved the unlawful touching of a child under 10 years old, Fraga said.
Avila was arrested at his home in the 1700 block of Petaluma Hill Road and was interviewed by domestic violence and sexual assault detectives, Fraga said. Avila is not a registered sex offender, he said.
