Investigators said that because of the condition of the remains, they do not expect to know the age or sex of the person for weeks, but it is being handled as a possible homicide.
Police found the remains in a 300-yard area during a search late Thursday and early Friday.
Investigators say the bones are weathered and appear to have been scattered by the current.
