Santa Clara County combats animal abuse

SAN JOSE, CA

It starts with educating people to keep a closer eye on what's going on just down the street.

"If in your neighborhood you see any animal that is being neglected, abused, chained for long periods of time, please call your local animal control agency and report it," San Jose animal control spokesperson Julie St. Gregory said.

The new project also aims to remind people about the dangers of leaving their pet inside a car, especially during hot summer months.
