SJ bank robber attempts getaway on VTA train

SAN JOSE, CA

Twenty-five-year-old Ermec Antonio Avalos of San Jose found that out the hard way this week.

Police say Avalos robbed a Wells Fargo branch in the 100 block of South Market Street on Tuesday. He tried to make his getaway by jumping onto a northbound VTA light rail train.

Police were waiting for him at the St. James Park light rail station -- with a transfer to the county jail.
