Crews are trying to reduce the amount of sand that blows onto the Great Highway throughout the year. They are expected to move up to 10,000 cubic yards of sand over the next week using heavy machinery.
The southbound lanes of the Great Highway between Lincoln Avenue and Sloat Boulevard will be closed mornings and afternoons through Friday.
