Between midnight Thursday and midnight Saturday, officers representing 15 law enforcement agencies in Santa Clara County arrested 38 individuals for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, down from 56 DUI arrests made during the same 48-hour period last year.
As was the case last year, there were no DUI-related fatalities thus far this holiday weekend.
On Sunday night, extra DUI saturation patrols were deployed in Milpitas, Palo Alto, Cupertino, Saratoga, Los Altos Hills and San Jose.
Law enforcement officials will continue to collect DUI arrest statistics through midnight Monday.
Residents and motorists are encouraged to report drunken drivers by calling 911.
