A driver trying to park in heavy fog early this morning in San Francisco's Twin Peaks neighborhood ran off the road and plunged 100 feet down the side of a cliff, a fire department spokeswoman said.

Lt. Mindy Talmadge said the vehicle left Twin Peaks Boulevard and landed on Gardenside Drive below at about 3:15 a.m.

"Apparently the person was parking their vehicle and it was very foggy and they weren't able to see, and they accidentally went over," Talmadge said.

She said the two people in the car, a man and a woman, were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Crews were working to remove the vehicle late this morning, she said.
