Sniper opens fire on Oakland police Sunday night

OAKLAND, CA

An intense search of the area failed to find the sniper. There was evidence that the sniper attack may have been planned well ahead of time.

At about 11:30 p.m. Sunday night, police were making a stop on a vehicle when somebody opened fire from an apartment building located at 1055 8th Street.

After backup was called, police entered the apartment building, but did not enter the individual apartment units.

Officers did find that someone had vandalized a room containing surveillance equipment for the building.
