CHP searches for driver who fled after crash

TIBURON, CA

CHP officers spotted the blue BMW 330i driving approximately 35 mph in a 55 mph zone on northbound U.S. Highway 101 near Seminary Drive around 2 a.m., CHP Officer Chris Rardin said.

The driver fled when the officers tried to stop the car for impeding traffic, Rardin said.

The driver exited the highway and drove east on state Highway 131. He lost control of the car east of Cecilia Way, crashed into the center divider and fled on foot, Rardin said.

The CHP, Marin County Sheriff's Office and Tiburon police were unable to locate the driver.

Three passengers in the vehicle, two females and a male, remained at the scene, Rardin said.

Arianna Rios, 20, of Corte Madera, complained of pain in her neck and head and was taken to Marin General Hospital, Rardin said.

The BMW is registered to 20-year-old Christopher Worley of Mill Valley, another passenger in the vehicle, Rardin said. There was no information immediately available about the other female passenger in the vehicle or the identity of the driver, Rardin said.

The Marin CHP is investigating the collision and why the driver fled, Rardin said.
