Trout in Lake Shasta die in large numbers

Trout planted in Lake Shasta on Friday are dying by the score and tonight fish and game says it's because the water is too warm -- experts call it thermal stress.

Nearly 15,000 pounds of trout were brought into stock the lake.

An estimated 200 washed up over the weekend.

Fish and Game says it's common for fish to die after being planted, just not as many as this weekend.
