It's becoming a serious problem in cities around the country and a bed bug summit was held on Tuesday.
Bed bugs are appearing in more hotels, stores and offices all across the country these days. The Centers for Disease Control says it's caused by an increase in world travel.
The bed-bug summit was held in Illinois. Among the tips for avoiding bugs: check your hotel mattress for black marks. Don't buy used furniture without a full inspection and if you need an exterminator, it'll cost you.
"A typical bed bug treatment is going to cost you anywhere from a $1,000 to $2,000," says Donnie Shelton, an exterminator from Triangle Pest Control.
Bed bugs do not transmit diseases, but they do feed on human blood and definitely leave you itching.
