According to SF Gate: San Francisco, the Presidio, Palo Alto and Stanford University each were awarded gold.
The top platinum award was given to Davis, California, as well as Boulder, Colorado and Portland, Oregon.
The league of American bicyclists issues the award to communities that apply, and are judged on how the areas engineer, educate and encourage bicycling.
