Crab season opened for recreational fishing in the Bay Area Saturday.

The commercial crab season starts on November 14, but sport fishermen got a head start beginning Saturday.

The daily bag limit is 10 Dungeness crabs per person in most of the state. Crab fishing is prohibited in San Francisco and San Pablo Bays because they are designated crab nurseries.
