Palo Alto investigates phantom 911 calls

PALO ALTO, Calif.

Officials say it happened more than two weeks ago when a dispatcher picked up the line and no one was on the other end. Seconds later, another call came in.

The dispatch ended up receiving a total of 566 calls over the next four hours.

Officials do not belive a prankster was to blame; instead, they think it was a technology glitch.

A similar problem was reported by the CHP dispatch center in Vallejo earlier this week
