Thursday is the start of the Lunar New Year, which kicks off two weeks of festivities to celebrate the Year of the Rabbit.

People are gearing up for those celebrations in San Francisco's Chinatown.

People born in the year of the rabbit are said to lead a tranquil life. They have good judgment, a sweet disposition and they are lucky at business.

San Francisco's Chinese New Year Parade, which dates back to just after the Gold Rush, will take place on Saturday, February 19.
