Daly City police standoff ends peacefully

DALY CITY, Calif.

A SWAT team responded to the incident near the corner of West Market Street and San Pedro Road in Daly City at about 5 a.m. Shortly after 10 a.m. police fired stun grenades inside the apartment.

Police responded to reports that five or six shots were fired. It is unknown whether the shots were fired from inside the unit or outside. According to police, a man and a woman were held in the apartment and police made contact, at least with the woman, early on.

All the neighboring apartment units were evacuated and no one else was inside the apartment. Police say the woman was very upset during the standoff, but they believe she was not being held against her will.
