Local schools honor Nat'l Read Across America Day

SAN JOSE, Calif.

Consider that rhyming advice Dr. Seuss would be proud of on this is National Read Across America Day. Schools all across the Bay Area are held events as part of Wednesday's celebration.

At San Jose's Anderson Elementary, celebrities took turns reading to children. Among the stars who turned out were soccer legend Brandi Chastain and former Chicago Bears star Tim Ryan.

The event is held every year on the birthday of children's author Dr. Seuss in an effort to encourage all children to read. Dr. Seuss would have turned 107 Wednesday.
