Deputies responded to reports of shots fired in the housing projects on Tullibee Court at around 10:15 p.m., Lt. Frank Lawrence said.
Responding deputies discovered the victim, a man in his early 20s, in the street suffering from gunshot wounds.
The victim was declared dead at the scene, Lawrence said.
Investigators were still on the scene this morning and no suspect information was immediately available.
