Doctors in Europe are hoping next year to conduct the first uterus transplant and enable a woman who was born without a uterus to become pregnant.

More than 3,000 potential mom and daughter pairs are being tested by a Swedish research team.

Doctors tried and failed to do a uterine transplant 10 years ago but they say techniques are much better now.

If all goes well, they say six to ten pairs of women will undergo the transplant procedure next spring.
