The small fire was apparently started by food left on the stove. The unit was filled with smoke when firefighters arrived at the Crestwood Drive apartment around 2:00 this morning and the fire apparently triggered the unit's sprinkler system.
Firefighters put out the fire in about 15 minutes and treated the mother and infant for smoke inhalation. Both the mother and baby are expected to recover.
