Carl Miller was led into the Martinez courtroom in handcuffs for a bail hearing. He remains in jail accused of stealing money from dozens of clients. Miller ran a real estate investment business, was the treasurer of the local Boy Scout troop, and comes from a prominent family. His clients came forward claiming Miller took their money.
"He was involved in many, many fraudulent transactions where he pocketed the money, lived off the money and lived an exorbitant lifestyle off the backs of other people," said public prosecutor Ken McCormick.
His attorney has said that Miller is going to do everything within his power to make things right. His bail hearing was continued to Monday.
