Large grass Morgan Hill fire fully contained

MORGAN HILL, Calif.

The 40- to 50-acre grass fire posed a threat to homes near McDonald Lane and Diana Avenue, which is east of U.S. Highway 101 not far from the Dunne Avenue exit, Capt. Mary Gutierrez said.

Helicopters and planes dropped water on the blaze, which was fully contained by about 7:15 p.m., at least two hours after firefighters first responded to the scene, Gutierrez said.

About 100 firefighters were at the scene, including those from Cal Fire and the Santa Clara County and San Jose fire departments.

Gutierrez said one firefighter was possibly injured and that an ambulance had rushed to the scene at about 7:30 p.m.
