Oakland PD investigate shooting of child

OAKLAND, Calif.

The child was brought to Highland Hospital around 3:15 p.m. Saturday. Officers say the boy was shot in the arm and is recovering.

The child's wounds are not life-threatening.

Police say they stopped a car shortly after the shooting. The car had bullet holes and a weapon.

"We have persons of interest involved in this case and we're now taking care of this investigation," said J. Mitchell with the Oakland Police Department.

Police say the location of the shooting was close to where another child, Carlos Nava, was fatally struck by a stray gang bullet two weeks ago.
