SJPD says it tries to handle crime at foreclosed homes

SAN JOSE, Calif.

In the last week, there has been a murder and two fires at that home on Whitton Avenue.

Neighbors say police ignored their numerous complaints and failed to deal with on-going problems, including drugs and prostitution at the home.

Tuesday, police told ABC7 the situation with the house is complicated and they've handled it the best they could. Department officials say they appreciate the assistance they have received from neighbors, but unfortunately, they are dealing with similar problems at a number of other homes around the city.
