Three arrested after burglary in Redwood City

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.

Two 17-year-old Redwood City boys and a 19-year-old also from Redwood City, later identified as Alejandro Cota-Soleto, knocked on the victim's front door around 11:45 a.m. in the 3200 block of Hoover Street, according to police.

The victim did not answer the door or respond to the knocking. The three suspects then entered the home's yard and forced open the back door and entered the home, police said.

The victim confronted the suspects and got into a physical fight with the 19-year-old, whom the victim was able to detain as the two juveniles ran off. The victim then called police.

Officers responded to the area and took Cota-Soleto into custody inside the victim's house and began searching for the other two boys. They located one of the boys less than a quarter-mile away in the 3200 block of Rolison Road, police said.

The last boy was found and taken into custody at his house in the 3200 block of Rolison Road at 5 p.m., police said.

The victim was not injured during the break-in and subsequent fight, police said.

Cota-Soleto was booked into San Mateo County Jail on suspicion of residential burglary. The two boys were booked into the San Mateo County Juvenile Detention Center on the same charge.
