Twenty-five positions within the department will be created, and four will be filled by re-hiring officers that were laid off last year.
According to the San Jose Mercury News, 10 other officer will be trained at the academy starting on Monday and 11 others will be recruited.
The funding comes from a $10 million grant provided by the U.S. Department of Justice.
