A new group of San Jose firefighters will finalize their training today, before officially going on duty next week.

A $15 million federal staffing grant is being used to restore 49 staffing cuts in San Jose. This will be the second round of firefighters who will return to work after completing a six week refresher training course. Another round of firefighters will be back in place by next February.
