A pit bull that attacked a 2-year-old Concord girl Monday afternoon was euthanized Tuesday morning.

The dog was put down so Contra Costa County Animal Services could speed up tests to determine if it had rabies.

Letty McQuay is in stable condition but still receiving care at Oakland Children's Hospital. The toddler suffered injuries to her head, face and leg.

The family could face criminal charges if they were aware the pit bull had an aggressive history.
