Whether they're fried, over-easy or scrambled, a new study says eggs are almost as bad for your arteries as smoking.

According to researchers at a university hospital in London, the problem is with the cholesterol found in egg yolks. The study says yolks accelerate the buildup of plaque on artery walls in people over 40. Accumulated plaque over a period of time can lead to heart attacks and strokes. The study involved 1,200 people enrolled in a vascular prevention clinic. The researched is published in the Journal Atherosclerosis.
