Father issues extreme warning to speeding drivers

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.

Phillip Tingley put up a sign up in front of his Bakersfield home that reads, "Warning, you hit my kid, you will be shot."

Tingley says many neighbors support the sign and that it's working. He says drivers are following the 25 mile-per-hour speed limit, "I'm not here to hurt anybody, that's not my intentions, it's just to have everyone slow down and we're good."

Neighbors added, "It's a little much, it's a little drastic, a little shocking but I understand their frustration. I mean, we have grandkids. So, aside from doing that, the only alternative is possibly speed bumps and I don't think that would be accepted very well in the neighborhood."

Police say Tingley is not breaking any laws with the sign.
