The collision happened in the area of Taylor and North Sixth streets at 5:08 p.m.
Arriving officers found a 79-year-old woman down in the street. She was pronounced dead at 5:19 p.m.
Police believe that the woman was crossing Taylor Street in or near the crosswalk when she was struck by a gray Toyota 4-Runner.
The driver, a 32-year-old man, is cooperating with the investigation. Police do not suspect alcohol or drugs was a factor in the crash.
The victim's name has not been released pending notification of her next of kin.
