Police, who were on scene during the dance and quickly responded to the incident, locked down the gym where the dance was being held for about half an hour starting at 8:30 p.m.
The shots were fired about a block away from the school following an argument between the teenagers.
Those involved were not students, according to police. The dance resumed around 9 p.m.
