The 2013 Ford Fusion will be certified by the Environmental Protection Agency as getting the electric equivalent of 100 miles a gallon, that's combined highway and city driving.
The Fusion's main rival, the Toyota Prius plug-in gets 95 miles a gallon. The Honda Accord plug-in hasn't been rated yet.
The Ford Fusion costs just under $40,000, almost identical to the Prius plug-in.
