Mentors from District Attorney's office visit schools

SAN FRANCISCO

Studies show students who regularly meet with mentors do better in school.

"Kids that have had a mentor for about six months improve their attendance by over 40 percent and their GPA also by over 40 percent. And so we know that it works," San Francisco District Attorney George Gascon said.

About 1,000 San Francisco students have expressed interest in having a mentor.

Anyone interested can attend a mentor recruitment drive scheduled for this Thursday evening at Marcus Bookstore on Fillmore Street.
