Gusty conditions continue around the Bay Area

SAN FRANCISCO

The Bay Area will experience breezes in the 25 - 35 mph range, but the winds will not be as aggressive as yesterday.

Parts of the Great Highway remain closed today after gusts up to 75 mph dumped sand onto the roadway yesterday. Fifteen to 18 foot waves forced even the most experienced fishermen to keep their boats tied up. Some say, it's the first time they've had to tie up their boats in 12 years and that it's bad for business.

"We charge $125 for our fishing trips. We had 20 people scheduled to go out. They wanted to go salmon fishing. We can't get to the salmon grounds. It's too dangerous," said sport fishing boat owner Capt. Frank Rescino.

The Coast Guard is advising beachgoers to be aware of big waves and dangerous rip currents.
