One of the youngest victims of the Boston Marathon bombings is back home in the Bay Area. Eleven-year-old Aaron Hern of Martinez returned home just in time to celebrate his 12th birthday on Wednesday.

Aaron suffered severe injuries to his leg in the bombings on April 15. He still faces a long road to recovery.

The Hern family has asked for privacy as they adjust to being home. A note on the door of the family home says there will be a press conference on Thursday.

People around the Bay Area have stepped up for Aaron and his family with multiple fundraisers to help cover his mounting medical expenses.
