Talks between BART, unions to resume today

Contract talks between BART and its employee unions are set to resume today.

Both sides have until next Sunday to avert another strike.

On Saturday, negotiators discussed some issues including worker safety but not the major sticking points, like salary and benefits.

A spokesman for the transit agency tells ABC7 News progress is being made and they're optimistic a strike won't happen.

A four-day strike halted service earlier this month and ended after employees agreed to a 30-day contract extension.
