Two gunmen rob downtown Walnut Creek restaurant

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.

At about 11:05 p.m., officers responded to reports of an armed robbery that had just occurred at Corner's Tavern Restaurant, located at 1342 Broadway Plaza, according to Walnut Creek police.

Two men armed with handguns had entered a back office, confronted an employee and demanded cash from the business, police said.

Patrons of the restaurant were apparently unaware that the robbery had occurred and no one was injured.

Responding officers searched the area but did not locate the suspects.

A witness said the two men fled on foot on Newell Avenue and got into a sliver-colored Jeep Cherokee that drove north through the Broadway Plaza parking garage.

Both suspects were described as black men in their 20s, police said. One was around 5 feet 6 inches tall with a medium build, and the second was around 5 feet 8 inches tall, also with a medium build. Both suspects wore hoodies and bandanas over their faces.

Anyone who might have information about the robbery is asked to contact Walnut Creek Police Department at (925) 943-5844.
