Plan to rename Bay Bridge after Willie Brown approved

SAN FRANCISCO

The state assembly unanimously passed the measure three weeks ago.

But there's a new wrinkle in the naming plan.

The SF Weekly reports that a lawsuit is expected to be filed today claiming lawmakers fast-tracked the bill and slipped it through without following proper procedure.

Gov. Jerry Brown opposes the name change. He says spans can only be named after someone who's deceased.
