While the two vehicles involved in the Hillcrest Avenue crash do not appear to have collided, they were both traveling at a high speed prior to the accident, according to Corporal Rick Smith.
The crash occurred around 7:10 p.m. near Sterling Hill Drive, when a vehicle struck a tree, ejecting both the driver and passenger.
A 17-year-old Antioch boy was pronounced dead at the scene, while a 19-year-old Antioch man was taken to the hospital in critical condition with major injuries.
The 19-year-old's condition has since been upgraded to serious, police said.
The driver of the second vehicle was identified only as an 18-year-old Antioch male.
